Reflecting on recent insights from Inside Higher Ed regarding fraud in international admissions, it’s clear we need a unified strategy. Universities and states must collaborate on consistent policies about student work practices and offering acceptances (when students can begin to work and being held to only accepting one offer to prevent overcommitments). Additionally, building trusting relationships with international agencies is crucial for verifying applicant integrity. Expanding U.S. embassy staff roles and increasing personnel in strategic locations can help manage long visa wait times and reduce fraud, ensuring a fairer and more efficient admissions process.
