The UK is the latest country to tighten rules around international student visas.

According to “The PIE News”, several UK universities are halting recruitment in countries where visa refusal rates are high, ahead of expected changes to the government’s Basic Compliance Assessment (BCA) thresholds. These changes could affect an institution’s ability to sponsor international students.

London Metropolitan University has stopped recruiting from Bangladesh, and Glasgow Caledonian is limiting recruitment to certain programs in efforts to stay compliant. The University of Sunderland has also paused recruitment from Sudan, Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen. Some students have even had their study offers withdrawn.

We’re following these changes closely to help students avoid unexpected roadblocks and build strong, future-ready application plans.
